Welcome to the 7th & 8th grade ELA class page! I am Ms. Fanning and I am so happy and excited to be your teacher this year. For 8-1 students, I also teach Religion.
I am looking forward to a fantastic year in room 321!
7th Grade ELA
In seventh grade, you will discover the elements of literature and find meaning through the study of non-fiction and fiction works. You will practice language skills through grammar, usage, mechanics, and spelling and transfer these to your written work. You will use "The Writing Process" to develop and progress your writing skills in creative and research-based writing.
8th Grade ELA
In eighth grade, you will discover how to construct meaning and analyze both concrete and abstract literary elements from fiction and non-fiction works. You will continue to practice transferring language skills to your written work, and you will use "The Writing Process'' to continue developing your writing skills. You will also practice and prepare for the TACHS exam, as well as high school in general through text analysis, research based and creative writing, and MLA formatting.
