The Department of Education was recently notified by PowerSchool, the software vendor which provides the Student Information System used by schools of the Diocese of Rockville Centre, of a cybersecurity breach affecting many of its customers nationally and globally. The breach occurred on the PowerSchool Platform and did not originate from the Diocese of Rockville Centre accounts or systems. The information accessed included demographic information belonging to students and staff of the elementary schools. PowerSchool has begun notifying the affected parties, including information on credit monitoring or identity protection. PowerSchool is offering two years of complimentary identity protection services to students and educators whose information was involved.
